The Maldives is Asia's smallest country.

The country is known for its natural beauty and the unusual way the archipelago of islands was developed. In the Indian Ocean, the Maldives are located south-west of Sri Lanka and India. There are about 1,192 small coral islands clustered together, as well as 26 naturally created atolls. The Maldives' islands cover an area of over 90,000 square kilometers and include approximately 200 inhabited islands. Almost 122 islands have been established as tourist destinations, and more than 78 islands are thought to be used for agriculture and other forms of subsistence.

The Maldives are a subcontinent located 823 kilometers west of Sri Lanka. The weather in the Maldives is mainly sunny all year, making it easy to plan a holiday there at any time. The country is situated north of the equator, between 4 degrees and 17 degrees north latitude and 73 degrees and 50 degrees east longitude. The northernmost atoll is located roughly 110 kilometers south of India's Mini Coy Atoll, 480 kilometers south east of India's Cape Comorin, and 649 kilometers west of Sri Lanka.

The Maldives' islands are all lowlands, with none rising more than 6 feet above sea level. The country's beautiful white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and coral reefs make it one of the most wonderful vacation destinations. So, if you're looking for a change of scenery to unwind from your daily stresses, the Maldives could be the ideal vacation destination.
